I’m Debbi, a bubbly Orange County girl. I knew my heart outgrew America ever since I was 6 yrs. old.

This is my tale – A Hobbit’s Tale – as I document my adventures throughout the world. In 2013, I set off on a one-way ticket to New Zealand to seek new challenges, adventure, and a different perspective on happiness.

It was the best decision of my life.

Since then, I’ve lived in four different countries and have no intention of stopping my nomadic ways. I currently live and work on a cruise ship. Join me as I combine my passions (eating, bungee jumping, music, hiking, diving, animals) with my greatest love of all: long-term travel.

“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.”

  1. I’m so glad I came across your blog. This is great! I wish I could steal a few of your tidbits and just put them up on my ‘About’ page. They would fit right in. Well, 1 2 3 4 5 7 8 10 11 12 13 14 15 17 19 21 25 26 28 30 would. And some others are pretty similar too. That’s uncanny!

  2. Debbi! I don’t know if you remember me, I met you when visiting Kevin and Henry in SB wayyy back when, haha. Who would have guessed you’d be doing something amazing like this?! This is a wonderful blog and your journey is absolutely inspiring – I look forward to future posts!

    1. Of course I remember you! Wow, how on earth did you find me? Mad skills… 🙂 Amazing to see that you’re still on track for med school. Do what you love, for sure! Will definitely be following your journey as well- your volunteer experience with GapMedics will probably be life-changing and leave you just wanting to see and help more. Beautifully written posts – thanks for getting in touch!

      1. Haha, you were the comment right before mine on my friend’s blog (Alexa!) and you looked familiar, so I had to check out your blog – so glad that I did! Your journey makes me that much more excited for Thailand and all the other adventures to come [:

  3. I just stumbled upon your blog and reading that you moved to NZ after years of LOTR obsession is very hopeful! I’m a twentysomething who lost her heart to the series 10 years ago and is already getting tired of her first real job, and I’m seriously contemplating a working holiday in NZ. I’ll be keeping an eye on this blog for some more inspiration 🙂 Best of luck with your trip!

      1. I’m pretty sure I will – I did a big trip around Australia last year and that made me realize that the world is too big not to go exploring! Unfortunately it’ll be at least another year before I can do it (money-wise), but the perspective is exciting enough 🙂 And until then, I’ll just live vicariously through you…
